Five days subsequently the patient was brought into the operating theatre, brought under the influence of anaisthetic (A. C. E.). The abdomen was washed with 1 in 2000 H. P. lotion, with alcohol, and again with H. P. lotion. She had previously been given a phenyle bath. The patient was then placed in the Trendelenberg position, and an incision was made extending from the umbilicus to a point 1" above the pubes.
